The Adams County SPCA is excited to announce a new partnership with an anonymous donor who wishes to help the animals in the community by donating pet food to those who need a helping hand. We are calling the program “The Kibble Cart”.

It’s never easy to be on a fixed income, jobless or just unable to pay the bills. This partnership is focused on citizens in our community with pets who are in those situations. To get by, many people depend on programs like Meals on Wheels to get the food they need, especially when unplanned expenses like surgeries or medical bills arise.

There is a problem, however. People who can’t afford food for themselves often also can’t afford food for their pets. This usually results in people sharing their food with their pets, which also means both human and animal aren’t getting proper nutrition. For these folks it’s a last ditch effort to keep their beloved companion with them. Some have even had to give their pets away because of an inability to afford food. For many people whose friends and family may have passed or live far away, their animal companions are their best friends. This is a problem impacting the people living in Adams County.

Our anonymous donor is providing us a limited amount of pet food each month and the Adams County SPCA will be picking a different location in Adams County each month to set up and provide pet food to those who need a helping hand. Once the food is gone for that month it’s gone and the following month we will set up in a new location. All we want to do is try to help people keep their family together.

The only thing we are asking is that you live in Adams County and truly need this help so you are not taking food away from the community members that we and the anonymous donor are trying to help. We strive to make a difference in Adams County and keeping pets in their homes is important to us. If you want to know where we will be please call us at (717) 334-8876.
Together we can make a difference!
